From zmcgrew at gmail.com Fri Jul 4 09:30:03 2008 From: zmcgrew at gmail.com (Zachary McGrew) Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2008 00:30:03 -0700 Subject: WARNING: Gnome 2.22 update Message-ID: <4b1a641e0807040030l1a885dcaoa3dc18d5d9858c33@mail.gmail.com> *WARNING* Gnome was updated to 2.22 and many modules have been renamed to their official Gnome names to allow for quicker updates in the future. This will not cause problems if you are installing Gnome for the first time. Updating your existing Gnome installation will cause problems. Lunar update will work fine, but may take an extended period of time to work out the correct dependency changes. If you are looking to minimize downtime, we suggest intervening the update while it removes old modules. It is also suggested you run lunar fixdepends before the the lunar update to fix additional issues. For example: GConf2 was removed from /var/lib/lunar/moonbase GConf2: Do you want to remove GConf2 ? [y] Say yes, then interrupt the update, and lin GConf, where GConf is the module name without the 2. After installing the correct module, continue the lunar update repeating this process. Thanks for your patience while Gnome was updated and continues to be overhauled by the Lunar developers. -- Zachary McGrew From duncan.gibson at xs4all.nl Fri Jul 4 09:53:49 2008 From: duncan.gibson at xs4all.nl (Duncan Gibson) Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2008 09:53:49 +0200 (CEST) Subject: WARNING: Gnome 2.22 update Message-ID: <22829.195.169.141.54.1215158029.squirrel@webmail.xs4all.nl> > *WARNING* Gnome was updated to 2.22 and many modules have been renamed > to their official Gnome names to allow for quicker updates in the > future. Maybe it's too late for this suggestion now, but would it not be possible to provide a dummy GConf2 module with UPDATED=now that depends on GConf and therefore causes 'lin GConf' but itself has a do-nothing build stage? Similarly for the other *2 modules. Then after one month, assume everyone has updated and remove the *2 modules from the moonbase. D. I was wondering that no new icon appeared in my k-menu but since I start most of my apps just executing them from $PATH I didn't care to much. I checked the install log now and vnd.scribus.desktop is installed in /opt/lunar/qt/3/share/applications/ And what to say.. it's pretty lonley in there. My kmenu doesn't index this folder and I doubt that gnome (or any other desktop enviroment with dynamic menu support) would check for .desktop files there. Shouldn't this be installed to e.g. /usr/share/applications ? I did the following steps to get this app in my kmenu for now: ln -s /opt/lunar/qt/3/share/applications/vnd.scribus.desktop /usr/share/applications/ ln -s /opt/lunar/qt/3/share/pixmaps/scribusicon.png /usr/share/pixmaps/ And I edited vnd.scribus.desktop and added the following entry Categories=Qt;KDE;Utility;X-KDE-Utilities-Desktop;Office; because there are no categories defined in vnd.scribus.desktop and this would result in a new nasty entry "unknown stuff" or something like that in my k-menu. Dunno who is the maintainer for scribus and I know this is just minor eyecandy but I hope this will be fixed by someone with more knowhow about how this path stuff works. - -- Bernd "beko" Kosmahl beko (a-nospam-t) duke.famkos.net http://duke.famkos.net (PGP pupkey: http://duke.famkos.net/pub.txt) PGP Fingerprint: 0798 0D57 1F98 0675 731D AD06 81FB 7AD8 AD53 FE47 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkiJlVQACgkQgft62K1T/kfVpQCeOtPyQU2M0Ej3pwOjEcumo8FN 7IwAnixVd8PRF0QUDvnP7tGDHVNCVupa =fnFA -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From maintainer at lunar-linux.org Fri Jul 25 12:35:33 2008 From: maintainer at lunar-linux.org (maintainer@lunar-linux.org) Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2008 12:35:33 +0200 (CEST) Subject: weekly news - 20080725 Message-ID: <20080725103533.6F433F29F0@doppio.foo-projects.org> Hi!
